With Game 3 of the 2011 NBA Finals currently in full swing, and the Dallas Mavericks battling the Miami Heat, the personal lives of coaches and players alike are under unprecedented scrutiny. Inquiries ranging from whether Heat coach Erik Spoelstra is married, to whether Lebron James will ever propose to girlfriend and baby momma Savannah Brinson are “heating” up Google searches. But Mavericks players are under a similar microscope! Mavericks star player Dirk Nowitzki is reportedly engaged to girlfriend, Dallas art curator Jessica Olssen. According to mediatakeout.com, a source claims it “very credible” that Nowitzki proposed to his longtime girlfriend in May, and has promised to get married when the season is over! Olssen, whose parents are originally from Sweden, is described as “a very classy young lady.” If the couple is planning to tie the knot at season’s end, they can’t go wrong serving gorgeous wedding cupcakes in designer basketball cupcake wrappers and decorating the kids table with cascade basketball centerpieces!
Sandi Fox and Sam Fisher of Vancouver want to go down in history for having one of the most unusual weddings ever. The couple are due to exchange their wedding vows in front of 18,000 jersey-clad screaming Canucks fans at Rogers Arena. The couple won two tickets to the game from a contest that asked fans what they would do to win tickets to watch a Stanley Cup finals game from an executive suite inside the arena. Sandi, 33, a longtime Canucks fan, pledged to cancel her beach wedding and get married at the game instead. Today her dream comes true, with the wedding ceremony taking place at the arena during the first intermission. After the game, the pair will reunite with family and friends (who will not be allowed to attend the ceremony itself) and celebrate. We think they should have a special Canucks themed wedding cake with a Hockey Player Groom Cake Topper. And the perfect accompaniment? A #1 Fan Cheering Bride Cake Topper to stand alongside it, of course!
Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo has officially given up his hot bachelor status. The American footballer married Candice Crawford this weekend in Texas. The beautiful bride, a former Miss Missouri and a Dallas TV news reporter, is the sister of actor Chace Crawford.
We hear wedding planner Todd Fiscus put together a really footballer-friendly event for the couple, with a menu that featured short ribs and pizza. “We did lots of man food – I have a lot of football players to feed,” he told reporters. We think he could have made the reception even more football oriented with some All-Star Football Mini Cascade Centerpieces and a cute Football Couple Cake Topper. And for that perfect final touch? These fun and fabulous Deluxe Danglers, featuring the blue star of the Dallas Cowboys!
It’s almost time for celeb couple Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo to say ‘I do’! The newly engaged couple threw a lavish wedding shower on Sunday night at an exclusive hotel in West Hollywood, celebrating with friends and family in a private rooftop garden. According to guests, the event was laid-back but very elegant, with white couches, chairs and ottomans set up to create a lounge-y feel, and a DJ spinning chill-out music. Vanessa was her usual elegant self in a gorgeous white dress with a black sash, and the two reportedly looked very happy and in love.
The couple opened lots of presents, including some whitewash dinnerware, Waterford champagne flutes and a Feinberg English Silver wine funnel. In fact, we heard there was rather a lot of champagne consumed… perhaps Nick and Van should have had a ‘beautiful bubbly’ theme for their shower? We think these Stacked Heart Champagne Flutes would have been perfect for them to toast each other with! And for favors – how about a sweet Champagne Flute Gel Candle for each guest, beautifully wrapped and personalized with each person’s name? Or the couple could have presented each guest with a Mini Champagne Favor Cup, filled with expensive chocolates and confetti. Nothing like a sweet send-off to ensure your guests remember their night!
Get ready for the most blinged out wedding of the century! Reality TV maven Kim Kardashian is engaged to boyfriend of only six months, New Jersey Nets forward, and super tall fella Kris Humphries. Humphries proposed earlier this week and presented Kim with a rock valued at $2 million. The ring, designed by Lorraine Schwartz, is worth almost half the value of her Beverly Hills mansion, and features a 16.5 carat emerald cut center stone flanked by two 2-carat trapezoids, for a grand total of 20.5 carats. Kim and her sisters, Khloe and Kourtney, were reportedly all completely surprised by the engagement, though Kim’s mom apparently had the in on the home-grown, rose petals strewn proposal. This will be a second marriage for Kim, and a first for Humphries. Given the couple’s predisposition toward all things bling, we’re sure the reception and the ceremony will feature a Diamond and Bling Theme, complete with hanging crystals, and special event chandeliers. The couple should consider presenting guests with Bling Collection placecard holders as favors! Congratulations Kim and Kris!
The younger brother of Princess Diana, Charles Edward Maurice Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer, is engaged to be married to Canadian philanthropist, Karen Gordon. This will be the third marriage for Spencer, who was previously married to Catherine Victoria Lockwood and later, Caroline Freud. The couple announced their engagement on February 15, 2011. Gordon is the founder and chief executive of Whole Child International, a Los Angeles-based charity which works to improve the lot of orphaned, abandoned, or abused children. Gordon has been honored at the Clinton Global Initiative, among other accolades.
For their June 18, 2011 wedding, Spencer and Gordon can feature several Fairy tale themed wedding supplies, which will complement the regal atmosphere of the wedding location in Althrop, England, where Spencer resides. Guests can enjoy white frame heart shaped wedding coach place cards and the couple’s wedding ceremony can feature an enchanting Castle Wedding set, including champagne glasses, a guest book, wedding pen set and more.
Spencer delivered a stirring eulogy following the shocking death of Princess Diana on August 31, 1997, in which he rebuked both the press and the royal family.
“Sister, Sister” star Tamera Mowry will wed fiance Fox News anchor Adam Housley in a May 15th ceremony. The bride, who insists she is focusing on building a lasting marriage rather than spending a fortune on the wedding, will walk down the aisle in a Carolina Herrera dress. Mowry’s now-pregnant twin sister, Tia Mowry, who married Cory Hardrict in 2008 tells People.com that she is “picking out flowers and helping making sure the place is how she wants it and that kind of stuff.” If the wedding takes place in Napa, where Housley’s family owns a vineyard and the couple spent much time, guests can enjoy chrome Grape Design Wine Stopper favors, and the tablescape can be adorned with Grapevine Votive Stands. Tia will be the maid of honor, and brother Taj will be a groomsmen at the large 400-guest wedding. Tamera, who got engaged to Housley last August in Italy, has taken a break from work to plan the grand affair.
“Dancing with the Stars” performer Karina Smirnoff is planning to wear a “big fairy tale dress” with a long train in her tropical Caribbean wedding with fiance Brad Penny. Smirnoff, a Ukranian American professional ballroom dancer, and Penny, starting pitcher for the SF Giants, became engaged in October 2010. The soon to be bride fell in love with the Caribbean, and quickly decided it would be the location of her nuptuals. While Smirnoff has a large family and had planned for a grand wedding, the couple is now expected about 75 to 100 guests at their destination Caribbean wedding. As she tells People magazine, ““I think it’ll be smaller because it is destination and not everyone will be able to fly out.” For those who are able to make the trip, the couple can pack out of town bags with personalized sunscreen featuring the names of the bride and groom, along with personalized luggage tags. Smirnoff previously dated actor Mario Lopez.
