Design Inspiration: Snazzy Safari Style

Looking for a really fun, dynamic theme for a party, birthday, shower, rehearsal dinner, or even a wedding brunch? How about getting your animal instincts going with these fabulous giraffe and zebra print themes? Animal prints are so in right now, and they make a really funky statement even when used for formal occasions. Let your décor reflect the fun, playful side of you!

Whatever your occasion, you can find all the bulk tableware you need right here – wholesale plates and glasses, napkins, guest towels, even tablecovers. Why not give your table the zing of a crisp black and white zebra print, accented with lots of fresh green foliage?

You can tuck soft Zebra Color Feathers into the table centerpieces, and hang a dazzling Zebra Print Chandelier over the table to really amp up the animal factor.

A soft brown giraffe print is just as funky and goes well with an earthy, safari-style theme. Use tiny animals to accent the décor, and add liberal splashes of animal print!

Tips for creating an animal-theme event:

  1. Avoid overkill. A little animal print goes a long way, so don’t try to wrap everything in the same fabric or finish.
  2. Experiment with other colors. Zebra stripes look fun with hot pink, orange or turquoise. Don’t limit yourself to the monochrome color palette.
  3. Use big plants and leafy arrangements instead of traditional floral displays to play up the natural element.
  4. Make the most of a safari theme by using small animals to top cakes or cupcakes, or animal themed napkin holders or favors.
  5. If using an animal print for the bridal party, stick to trims and accessories. A leopard print sash, clutch or sandal goes down a lot better than a full-on leopard print dress.
  6. Finally, have fun with it! Animal prints are all about letting your wild side out!

Stella’s Gorgeous Garden Party

Trust Stella McCartney to have the coolest fashion show-cum-garden party ever. The designer had a glitzy get together in New York to launch her latest collection. But this was no ordinary fashion show. Stella reportedly pulled out all the stops, encouraging guests to play lawn games with hula hoops, bubble wands and yo-yos, as models wearing her resort collection posed in the lush green surroundings. Attendees included actresses Naomi Watts and Liv Tyler, Bono, singer Estelle and Vogue editor Anna Wintour. We love the idea of giving the A-list a setting to let their hair down! Wonder if Stella handed out something like these cute pink Bubble Bottles for her guests to have fun with? We would have played up the bubble theme by hanging these fabulous Multi-Ball Garlands all over the garden… with their funky iridescent bubbles, they would have really jazzed the place up!

Hottest Shade of 2011: Tiffany Blue

Just one splash of that gorgeously intense Tiffany blue and you think of luxury, elegance, style and beauty. Little wonder that it’s proving to be one of the most popular wedding colors of 2011. Paired with crisp white, deep mocha brown or candylicious pink, it always looks uber-elegant. And where better to look for Tiffany blue wholesale wedding products than right here, at Koyal Wholesale? We can show you just how to make that Tiffany blue scheme work for your wedding.

With strong colors like this shade of blue, the trick is to use it sparingly. Too much, and your décor becomes overpowering. The perfect touch is to incorporate Tiffany blue elements into the tables, the lights, the cards and the outfits without making it the dominant shade. And by ‘blue touches’ we mean using products like these adorable Tiffany blue Personalized Favor Boxes:

Wrapped in cool white ribbons and adorned with big bows, they look simply precious.

And used in a table setting with the same blue scheme, using elegant matching plates, the overall effect is just perfect.

We’re not the only ones who think Tiffany blue is the new color to swoon over! We’ve been seeing more and more couples choosing to build their palettes around this ultra-pretty shade, with fabulous results. You simply can’t go wrong with a blue and white color theme – the look is just so clean and crisp and cool, it makes your mouth water!

Doesn’t the color combination make you think of the beach, and the cool shades of the sea on a summer day? We think Tiffany blue looks great with white sand, shells and starfish – don’t you? What a fabulous mix for a beach or destination wedding…

And if your look is more urban chic than beachside party, you can easily switch this color scheme around into a really sophisticated palette. Tiffany blue and mocha look gorgeous together, whether on a cake, a table setting, or a bridesmaid dress. It’s one of the hottest combos of the year!

Top Trend: Lace Themed Weddings

It’s all over the catwalks, the lifestyle magazines, the stores. It’s uber-pretty, perfect for summer, and full of feminine charm. It’s also the must-have element of every wedding this year. We’re talking about lace, of course, this season’s latest and greatest craze. And nowhere has it found more fans than in the wedding world!

If you’re thinking of building your wedding theme around lace, you couldn’t have picked a prettier or more versatile material to work with. Lace is delicate and decorative, but it can be used to customize almost any kind of wedding product, from vases to veils, table runners to trees! Wondering how to make it work? Follow our tips:

  1. Work out how you can incorporate lace into each aspect of the wedding. Firstly, your own and your fiancé’s outfit. Will you wear a head-to-toe lace dress or one with a lace bodice or hem? Or would you prefer an old-fashioned lace veil? You can even experiment with lace gloves or hairpieces! As for your groom, how about a lace flower boutonniere for his lapel?
  2. Choose lace dresses for your bridesmaids. They don’t have to be all white – a lace fabric backed by another color creates a fun, fashionable look that will tie in with your theme but not clash with your own outfit. Add sashes in the base color and bright hued shoes, and you’re ready to go!
  3. Consider how you can use lace in the setting for the ceremony. Would a lace backdrop behind the altar work in an outdoor ceremony? Or would you try something totally unique, like the lace-wrapped tree pictured below? How about a vintage lace cushion for the ringbearer?
  4. At the reception, use lace runners on the tables or Lace Tablecovers with matching Tableskirts. Another option is to create beautiful centerpieces using lace doilies and elegant Glass Vases enveloped in cobwebby lace. You can even use lace borders to customize a Cupcake Stand.
  5. Design your guest book and favors with the lace theme in mind. Create a lace covered pinboard and have guests write their wishes on paper flowers and pin them to the board. Or wrap a Manzanita Branch in lace and ask each guest to hang their message on it.

There are so many options for the bride who wants to try her hand at a little DIY. All you have to do first is decide what kind of theme you want to create using the lace. A lot of brides opt for the pure and ethereal look, which works perfectly with lace. The effect is utterly sophisticated, timelessly elegant, and very traditional.

For this theme, make the most of lace-embellished items like cupcake stands and cake trays. Ask your wedding cake creator to design a lacy-look cake, or serve cupcakes in Laser-Cut Wrappers that echo the lace effect. You’ll find that you don’t need to use actual lace in every element; there are many cleverly designed products that mimic the look but are more practical, like these Eyelet Paper Lanterns or White Medallion Lanterns.

Lace and pearls and ivory silk also lend themselves beautifully to a vintage theme. How about combining the lace theme with some authentically vintage details for a really classy-looking event? A lace dress and vintage shoes are a must, of course, and how about some old-fashioned lace jewelry and lace flowers in your bouquet? You can add lace touches to the reception by covering simple Glass Votive Holders in lace and placing them all over, or adorning the top of your cake with a sweet Lace-trimmed Wedding Cake Top.

Your lace wedding doesn’t have to be white, of course. You can introduce colors quite easily into this scheme too. How about a subtle but pretty blue and white combination?

Tips for developing a lace-based theme:

  1. Remember, lace decorations don’t have to be expensive. Paper Lace Doilies attached to a row of String Lights look just as pretty as pricier decorations.
  2. Scour craft shops for lace pieces, or look online to get the best deals.
  3. Experiment with cheaper alternatives: plastic lace overlays that look like lace tablecloths, for example, or lace runners instead of entire lace tablecovers.
  4. Try extending the theme by creating the look without using lace. Laser cut invitations with a filigree pattern can be lacy-looking but not as expensive as those wrapped in actual lace.
  5. Take on simple DIY projects like lace-covered votive holders for a fun and inexpensive way to build the theme.

Shepherd Hooks: Perfect Aisle Style!

Chances are, you’ve been envisioning this moment for months, maybe years: the moment you walk down the aisle on your father’s arm, all eyes on you… It’s an unforgettable moment, and it’s understandable that most brides want that special walk to be framed in beauty. That’s where aisle decorations come in.

This year has seen a real shift in trend as couples put more and more emphasis on decorating the aisle in an elaborate way. Shepherd hooks, kissing balls, lanterns, floral arrangements – these items are fast becoming a must-have element of the ceremony décor. Luckily, there are so many options available that you can create your own ‘aisle style’ to suit your theme – and budget.

One of the easiest and prettiest ways to adorn your aisle is to set up rows of shepherd hooks along both sides. These multi-purpose fixtures are so useful – they can be used to suspend metal or paper lanterns (for an evening ceremony), simple floral arrangements in glass jars or even tin pails (for a rustic look) or adorable pomanders in any color you choose.

You can even use the hooks to anchor lengths of organza or tulle to create a ‘swagged’ effect. The Dual Freestanding Shepherd Hook is perfect for this, as you can use one side to hold the fabric and the other to hang a floral arrangement or pomander.

Image from Wedding By Color

Shepherd hooks work best in a garden wedding, though it doesn’t have to be a green/floral themed affair. This fall theme shows how simple metal lanterns can be used to bring country charm to a simple outdoor wedding. Hanging lanterns on shepherd hooks are used to mark the entrance to the reception as well as line the path the bride and groom walk down together.

One of the prettiest aisle styles involves hanging glass jars on shepherd hooks and filling them with handpicked bunches of garden flowers. The effect is charmingly handmade, and a very cost-effective choice for brides on a budget. We like the idea of using these Old Fashioned Drinking Jars to hold bunches of flowers  – so original!

The shepherd hook can be used to display just about any kind of decoration. This next wedding theme is centered on the beach, so ribbons were used to hang shells and starfish to create a really pretty and unique aisle decoration.

There’s no limit to what you can dream up… so let your imagination go and make the most of these aisle decoration ideas!

Edward and Bella: Sneak Preview of Fairytale Wedding

It’s the most hotly anticipated wedding of the year. Stand aside Will and Kate – Edward and Bella’s wedding on the yet-to-be-released Breaking Dawn movie is being looked forward to by thousands of fans across the globe. Producers of the film have just released a ‘teaser’ – fifteen seconds of the fairytale wedding scene that has Twilight fans begging for more. Although the shots have revealed only a little of what promises to be an achingly romantic climax to Edward and Bella’s story, we’ve managed to make out a few details of the setting. Held in the Cullens’ garden, the wedding set features a luxurious carpeting of Rose Petals and a beautiful flower-bedecked altar. As for Bella’s dress, there is not much to be seen of it yet, but a simple Ivory Rose Bouquet is just visible. Can’t wait for more? The full clip is due to be shown on June 5th, and the film will be released in November. As for whether stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will re-enact the scene with a wedding of their own in the future – well, that remains to be seen. The pair have been dating throughout shoots for the five Twilight films and may just be living the fairytale for real soon!

A Green Scene: Planning an Outdoor Garden Wedding

A lush green garden, the scent of flowers on a cool breeze, the sun shining down on a couple standing under a beautiful arbor – it’s the ultimate wedding dream for many. But if you’re one of those who would love to have an outdoor wedding in a garden, there are several things you should keep in mind, like the weather, the decoration, and the setup. An outdoor wedding demands a whole different kind of plan, and it’s one that needs to be flexible as well as practical.

1. Setting the Date. Although it’s impossible to predict the weather far in advance, try to choose a time of year when the days tend to be sunny and rain-free, but not unbearably hot.

2. Developing a Plan B. A garden is lovely – except when it starts to bucket down with rain. Always have an alternative place to shift the ceremony and/or reception in case there is bad weather.

3. Deciding on a Tent and Lighting. You don’t have to have a marquee, but you should consider how you will light the event and whether you’ll need extra electrical connections.

4. Choosing a Theme and Color Scheme. Take your inspiration from the beauty of Nature and pick a floral theme, a ‘green’ palette or a rustic country theme.

5. Designing the Décor. The main advantage of holding your wedding outdoors is that Mother Nature will provide you with a beautiful backdrop. But you’ll have to decide what extra decorations, floral arrangements and tables and chairs you need.

Depending on the garden you choose, you can opt for any number of themes. Your own or your parents’ garden is always a lovely, homely choice, and you can build on that theme with rustic-inspired decorations. Hang Glass Lanterns, filling them alternately with candles and full-blown flowers. Try grouping together colored Glass Votive Holders for a really simple but pretty centerpiece. And fill jam jars or Glass Pitchers with hand cut seasonal flowers for a home-made look!

Flowers are a popular theme at weddings. One of the best contrasts with the green of a garden wedding is pretty, delicate pink. Forget cliché roses – choose the flamboyant peony as the symbol for your wedding, and fill the centerpieces, bouquets and aisle decorations with these dramatic blooms. You can extend the floral theme to smaller details like the place card holders and bottle openers, even the Favor Boxes, Invitations and Wine Bottle Labels.

A really beautiful theme that is easy to create is the vintage garden tea party. Use lots of authentically old pieces like the gorgeous distressed dresser in the picture below, used to display the cake. Have your bridal party dress in twenties or fifties style outfits, invest in some retro Hair Accessories, and go wild with long beaded necklaces, feathers and cocktail rings. Other great ideas: an old-fashioned White Birdcage to hold the place cards, Vintage Crystal Drop Candleholders in the center of each table, and a Personalized Aisle Runner with a traditional scroll to walk in on.

Feeling inspired? Great. But while you’re planning your fairytale garden wedding, don’t forget to consider these essential points.

  • Summer days can be very hot, so plan to rent free-standing fans or provide guests with Hand Fans.
  • Your menu needs to be practical – don’t order things that will melt after five minutes in the sun!
  • If you’re getting married during the popular summer holidays, book everything way in advance.
  • Open grounds are susceptible to gusty winds, so avoid having open flame lamps or candles.
  • Think about whether you will need to guard against mosquitoes, bees or other insects.
  • If you’re getting married at home, work out how much parking will be available for guests.
  • Decide how you will get an electrical supply for sound systems, fans etc.
  • Work out what lighting will be needed – Paper Lanterns, Spotlights or String Lights.
  • And always, ALWAYS have a backup plan in case it rains!

How Does Your Garden Glow?

Now that the weather’s hotting up, many couples are choosing to hold their wedding outdoors, and make the most of the summer sun. But what happens when the sun starts to set and your reception guests are left in semi-darkness? We have the perfect solutions for you to light up your garden and keep that glow going!

Evening lighting is all about creating ambience. You don’t want harsh floodlights, but softer, more subtle lights that will help the party morph into a laid-back but elegant soiree. One of the best solutions is to attach strings between the trees and hang lots of Paper Lanterns – the effect is pretty and almost magical. You can choose almost any color and shape to tie in with your wedding theme.

Image from Style Me Pretty

Fairy lights or String Lights are a great idea too. Wrap them around trees, drape them across the garden fence – they can be used almost anywhere. Plus they make a gorgeously atmospheric backdrop for some beautiful pictures!

Image from Junebug Weddings

Another good way to bring light to the area in a stylish way is to hang decorative glass lanterns. There are so many different kinds available – you could go for Mini Hanging Garden Metal Lanterns for a smaller area, or the larger Clear Glass Star Lanterns for a more fairytale look. If your color palette is on the warm side (red, orange, pink or burgundy) you could even lean towards a Moroccan-style look, with Red Glass Moroccan Lanterns or Tradewinds Candle Lanterns.  Lanterns also look lovely when suspended on Shepherd’s Hooks to create atmospheric pools of light.

Finally, don’t forget to light up your tables! Simple glass Votive Candle Holders in clusters are the best bet, like the ones pictured below, but you could also go for fancier Beaded Votive Candle Holders if you want to dress the tables up a bit!

There are so many flowers that bloom in spring, you’ll be spoilt for choice if you want a flower-themed wedding. Our top choice for a floral 2011 spring wedding is the gerber daisy! But you don’t have to go the typical route and stick to a yellow and white daisy theme. Gerber daisies come in so many fantastic vibrant shades, you can create any color palette you like!

We love the idea of a pink and orange wedding theme, filled to the brim with bright, cheerful daisies. There really is nothing so fresh and pretty and colorful as a garden ceremony and reception with daisy favor boxes, centerpieces and bouquets. A bunch of daisies atop the cake look sweetly stunning, or you could opt for cupcakes adorned with individual daisies in pink and orange! However you choose to accessorize it, your daisy themed wedding is sure to be a riot of color and joy!

Many eco-friendly couples find the idea of a green/garden wedding appealing. This theme is based on a very simple green palette with subtle touches of brown, and heavy use of natural elements – branches, leaves, twigs, and simple floral arrangements in white and green. You can create a fantastic relaxed vibe for the reception by arranging casual seating on the grass and cute picnic-style tables. Serve wedding cupcakes in an iron branch cupcake tree, and present your guests with cute potted plants as wedding favors – you can even use miniature topiary photo holders as place card holders or to show off pictures of you both! There is no limit to the fun you can have planning your eco-wedding in spring…
