Top 10 Honeymoon Spots For 2012 Weddings

Honeymoon Bound

Choosing a honeymoon spot can be tricky: do you want adventurous or educational, relaxing or invigorating? My husband and I had a long conversation about what we wanted to spend our honeymoon doing; which honeymoon activities appealed to us and which honeymoon adventures we were okay skipping. Horseback riding and hang gliding seemed fun and spontaneous but once we reached our destination we were suddenly a little weary of getting on a horse we knew nothing about.

So, the point is, decide on activities that you’re both comfortable with and find a happy medium between the two. If you want to scope museum spots and he wants to lie on the beach all day then you might have to spend a little more time picking a location that offers both. There are plenty of honeymoon spots you may have overlooked. Here is a list of a few ideas to get the ball rolling. Remember, if you’re like most couples this may be the most carefree trip of your lifetime (or at least until the kids are grown up and gone) so splurge and treat yourself to a real getaway! Plus, most of these honeymoon resorts have destination wedding packages as well!

  1. Santorini, Greece: This romantic getaway features black sand beaches and stunning architecture. The tall cliffs, traditional villages and breathtaking views make this a must for your bucket list.
  2. Grindavik, Iceland: If your honeymoon is about rejuvenating and relaxing, this destination is perfect. It’s off the grid and you’re not likely to run into anyone you know. The main attraction is the Blue Lagoon, a geothermal spa that will revitalize you after the long wedding planning process.
  3. The Maldives: This splurge vacation spot is unknown to many. It lies in the Indian Ocean and is only roughly 5 feet above sea level. This wedding destination is the go to place for beaches and sun.
  4. Paris, France: A typical tourist spot, Paris is one of the best places to go if you want to see romantic monuments and French restaurants. If you’re feeling adventurous take a trip up to the Alps for skiing and cuddling.
  5. Lord Howe Island, Australia: The entire country of Australia makes for a beautiful honeymoon destination but the Lord Howe Island is as stunning in beauty as it is relaxing. This destination boasts popular activities such as snorkeling and diving.
  6. Cape Town, South Africa: The second largest city in South Africa, Cape Town is one of the most multicultural cities in the world. Its beaches and surfing are a must see for a surfing enthusiast, in fact, Cape Town is home to the Red Bull Big Wave Africa surf competition every year.
  7. Jamaica: There are dozens of luxury resorts in Jamaica that have sky-rocketed it to the top the list for romantic honeymoon destinations. This exotic spot is perfect for an adventurous couple looking to listen to music and explore.
  8. St. Maarten: My own honeymoon destination makes the cut on dozens of must-visit vacation lists. This Dutch-French island is a popular tourist spot for diving, snorkeling and shopping. Plus, Anguilla and St. Barth’s are nearby excursions.
  9. Kauai, Hawaii: With its beautiful scenery, wonderful weather and excellent dining, Kauai is an ideal honeymoon location. Any of Hawaii’s luxurious resorts will satisfy your need for a tropical paradise.
  10. Costa Rica: Indulge your inner explorer with exotic rainforests and turtle farms. Costa Rica is a hot spot for honeymooners because of its tourist friendly restaurants and resorts.

Whimsical Wedding Pillowcases for the Bride & Groom

I’ve heard a lot of rumors about post wedding depression. I’m a little nervous that after the excitement and hoopla of a wedding nothing will seem quite as fun. I mean, weddings are beautiful drops of heaven so who wouldn’t be sad after the celebration is over? Then again, maybe Heidi Klum and Seal have got it right by having a wedding celebration every year. That being said I’m planning ahead for ideas to liven up our condo and fully succumb to the “nesting” stage.

Problem solved: Check out these awesome feminine pillow cases!!

For starters, Mr. Right and Mrs. Always Right pillowcases are the best way to playfully remind your husband who really is in charge. The LOVE pillowcases work great for guest room or bride and groom pillowcases. You’d think more hotels would decorate their honeymoon suites with these awesome pillows (stick with Love at least, avoid being too political). For a whimsical fun, the heartstrings pillowcases personalized with the bride and groom’s names are adorable. And don’t be turned away by the purple, these pillow cases come in a myriad of colors so your groom won’t be put off by a green LOVE pillowcase. These pillowcases are going on my registry immediately, that is if I don’t purchase them myself.

These pillowcases are perfect for wedding gifts and bridal shower presents. How fun would it be to gift a groom his pillowcase and then watch his shock when he notices his brides pillow case seems a little bit suspicious?
