Vintage Coral & Yellow Wedding

Designer Looks By Koyal - Coral & Yellow

Designer Looks: Vintage Coral & Yellow Rustic Wedding

We are excited to present our latest Designer Looks Collection featuring Coral and Yellow wedding and event decor. This beautiful color combination was used by our guest stylist Amanda Auer of In The Now Weddings to create a stunning vintage inspired table setting. Amanda combined beautiful thrift store furniture finds with our vibrant decor. To add a pop of color to the table, Yellow Ripple Glass Charger Plates were used under simple white plates.

For a retro inspired look, Vintage Milk Bottles and Vintage Paper Straws were used instead of the traditional drinking glass. Amanda dressed up our 2 PC favor boxes by simply adding a belly band using our Pattern Crochet Roll. For a vintage inspired centerpiece fill our White Round birdcages with a fresh arrangement of flowers. Place the set of two birdcages side by side and leave one empty. The empty cage can be used for guests to place their gift cards and notes!

We hope you are inspired by this special Designer Looks Collection! Styling your own wedding or event using Koyal products? If you have any images you would like to share please email we would love to see them!

Top 10 Wedding Ideas for 2013 – Artisanal Trends

Today we’re continuing our look at wedding trends for 2013.  Going artisanal will be ever popular with couples embracing all things artisanal for their special day.  Here are our top favorite artisanal trends for 2013:

1.  Artisan Rings and Wedding Bands

For many couples, the choice of rings is the most cherished aspect of the wedding.  After all the cake, dancing, and even the dress, remain two people promising each other a lifetime of love and commitment, represented by these rings.  Hence the appearance of artisan rings, handcrafted and made with love and care.

2.  Stationary

From save-the-date cards to thank you notes, it’s likely stationary will be key to your wedding. While big box stationary continues to remain popular, a resurgence of handmade (or made to look handmade) stationary will be a mainstay in 2013.

3.  Favors – Artisan Soaps

Many brides put thought and care into choosing memorable favors for their guests.  For smaller events like your bridal shower, consider artisan soaps – because they are custom made, you can personalize the soaps based on color, season, or ingredients.

4.  Favors – Chocolate

It’s hard to resist chocolate in any form, but for couples looking for artisanal inspiration, chocolate favors can be taken to a whole another level.  Find a local sweet shop and choose designs and flavors (truffles anyone?) which appeal to you.  Box them in dainty favor boxes and send guests home with a special treat.

5.  Food – Going Local, Going Seasonal

A big artisan wedding food trend in 2013 will be food which is sourced locally and in season. Aware of this growing trend, many caterers have craft food items on their menu – from gourmet grilled cheese (sourced locally of course!) to artisanal marshmallows.  Scour farmer markets, food and wine festivals, and other culinary events in your community for inspiration!

Stay tuned for our next 5 artisanal wedding trends tomorrow!

How to Plan a Rustic Wedding

How is it possible that the tightened economy and cutbacks lead to even more beautiful weddings? Who knew that spending less money would produce a unique new theme for weddings: rustic chic. Personalized wedding themes have transformed the wedding industry and made it possible for brides to have their dream wedding with any budget. The rustic chic backyard wedding is the perfect example. Backyards are being used as barn weddings and public parks are being turned into outdoor rustic events. No longer do brides have to forgo the big lavish wedding because of their short pocketbooks. With these bold wedding ideas you can create a chic rustic wedding in your own backyard!

Rustic Wedding Venues

When you’re looking for a rustic wedding venue, an outdoor location is ideal. Fresh greenery creates a stunning backdrop for white paper lanterns and string lighting. If you can find a barn setting you’ve struck it rich! Barnyard weddings used to be reserved for a cowboy theme wedding but not anymore. Nowadays you can dress up a barn with bright white lights, birch candle décor and plenty of lace table cloths to create a rustic vintage chic theme. The delicate lace table linens with country chic birch wooden vases create a complementary pairing. You’ll have strong cowboy inspired masculinity mixes with subtle lace accents.

Rustic Wedding Decorations

To create this look, decorate your tables with a mixture of white and lace table linens. Burlap is a popular favorite but should be used instead of lace. Rustic weddings rely on a subtle décor in order to let the nature and surroundings be the accent. Use the greenery to your advantage by pairing it with soft white paper decorations. Tissue paper pom poms, paper lanterns and glowing metal lanterns will set the tone for a barn wedding feel without the rodeo vibe.

Country Rustic Chic

Creating a backyard rustic wedding doesn’t mean you have to lose the white dress or elegant décor. After all, the term chic means stylish and fashionable! Choose your accent pieces before you shop for wedding supplies. That way you’ll know what important reception décor you want to incorporate. Some brides use vintage plates as their accents and then decorate with subtle table linens and simple floral arrangements. If you want to use mason jars and votives to light up your table, stick to basic table linens instead. Be sure to check with your venue regarding open flames, or you might have to use battery-operated votives. If your spouse-to-be has a sweet tooth, maybe your cake stands and decorative dessert table is your accent table.

The important thing to remember: creating a rustic chic wedding relies on simplicity and understated elegance. Brides are being adventurous with their wedding decorations. Birdcages, mason jars and retro bicycles are making appearances at these super cute weddings. How much would you love to see a bride and groom ride away on a cute red tandem bike through an awning of paper lanterns and string lights? It makes us so happy to see brides having fun and being creative without giving up their own personality or style. Rustic weddings are definitely here to stay!

Shepherd Hooks: Perfect Aisle Style!

Chances are, you’ve been envisioning this moment for months, maybe years: the moment you walk down the aisle on your father’s arm, all eyes on you… It’s an unforgettable moment, and it’s understandable that most brides want that special walk to be framed in beauty. That’s where aisle decorations come in.

This year has seen a real shift in trend as couples put more and more emphasis on decorating the aisle in an elaborate way. Shepherd hooks, kissing balls, lanterns, floral arrangements – these items are fast becoming a must-have element of the ceremony décor. Luckily, there are so many options available that you can create your own ‘aisle style’ to suit your theme – and budget.

One of the easiest and prettiest ways to adorn your aisle is to set up rows of shepherd hooks along both sides. These multi-purpose fixtures are so useful – they can be used to suspend metal or paper lanterns (for an evening ceremony), simple floral arrangements in glass jars or even tin pails (for a rustic look) or adorable pomanders in any color you choose.

You can even use the hooks to anchor lengths of organza or tulle to create a ‘swagged’ effect. The Dual Freestanding Shepherd Hook is perfect for this, as you can use one side to hold the fabric and the other to hang a floral arrangement or pomander.

Shepherd hooks work best in a garden wedding, though it doesn’t have to be a green/floral themed affair. This fall theme shows how simple metal lanterns can be used to bring country charm to a simple outdoor wedding. Hanging lanterns on shepherd hooks are used to mark the entrance to the reception as well as line the path the bride and groom walk down together.

One of the prettiest aisle styles involves hanging glass jars on shepherd hooks and filling them with handpicked bunches of garden flowers. The effect is charmingly handmade, and a very cost-effective choice for brides on a budget. We like the idea of using these Old Fashioned Drinking Jars to hold bunches of flowers  – so original!

The shepherd hook can be used to display just about any kind of decoration. This next wedding theme is centered on the beach, so ribbons were used to hang shells and starfish to create a really pretty and unique aisle decoration.

There’s no limit to what you can dream up… so let your imagination go and make the most of these aisle decoration ideas!

A Green Scene: Planning an Outdoor Garden Wedding

A lush green garden, the scent of flowers on a cool breeze, the sun shining down on a couple standing under a beautiful arbor – it’s the ultimate wedding dream for many. But if you’re one of those who would love to have an outdoor wedding in a garden, there are several things you should keep in mind, like the weather, the decoration, and the setup. An outdoor wedding demands a whole different kind of plan, and it’s one that needs to be flexible as well as practical.

1. Setting the Date. Although it’s impossible to predict the weather far in advance, try to choose a time of year when the days tend to be sunny and rain-free, but not unbearably hot.

2. Developing a Plan B. A garden is lovely – except when it starts to bucket down with rain. Always have an alternative place to shift the ceremony and/or reception in case there is bad weather.

3. Deciding on a Tent and Lighting. You don’t have to have a marquee, but you should consider how you will light the event and whether you’ll need extra electrical connections.

4. Choosing a Theme and Color Scheme. Take your inspiration from the beauty of Nature and pick a floral theme, a ‘green’ palette or a rustic country theme.

5. Designing the Décor. The main advantage of holding your wedding outdoors is that Mother Nature will provide you with a beautiful backdrop. But you’ll have to decide what extra decorations, floral arrangements and tables and chairs you need.

Depending on the garden you choose, you can opt for any number of themes. Your own or your parents’ garden is always a lovely, homely choice, and you can build on that theme with rustic-inspired decorations. Hang Glass Lanterns, filling them alternately with candles and full-blown flowers. Try grouping together colored Glass Votive Holders for a really simple but pretty centerpiece. And fill jam jars or Glass Pitchers with hand cut seasonal flowers for a home-made look!

Flowers are a popular theme at weddings. One of the best contrasts with the green of a garden wedding is pretty, delicate pink. Forget cliché roses – choose the flamboyant peony as the symbol for your wedding, and fill the centerpieces, bouquets and aisle decorations with these dramatic blooms. You can extend the floral theme to smaller details like the place card holders and bottle openers, even the Favor Boxes, Invitations and Wine Bottle Labels.

A really beautiful theme that is easy to create is the vintage garden tea party. Use lots of authentically old pieces like the gorgeous distressed dresser in the picture below, used to display the cake. Have your bridal party dress in twenties or fifties style outfits, invest in some retro Hair Accessories, and go wild with long beaded necklaces, feathers and cocktail rings. Other great ideas: an old-fashioned White Birdcage to hold the place cards, Vintage Crystal Drop Candleholders in the center of each table, and a Personalized Aisle Runner with a traditional scroll to walk in on.

Feeling inspired? Great. But while you’re planning your fairytale garden wedding, don’t forget to consider these essential points.

  • Summer days can be very hot, so plan to rent free-standing fans or provide guests with Hand Fans.
  • Your menu needs to be practical – don’t order things that will melt after five minutes in the sun!
  • If you’re getting married during the popular summer holidays, book everything way in advance.
  • Open grounds are susceptible to gusty winds, so avoid having open flame lamps or candles.
  • Think about whether you will need to guard against mosquitoes, bees or other insects.
  • If you’re getting married at home, work out how much parking will be available for guests.
  • Decide how you will get an electrical supply for sound systems, fans etc.
  • Work out what lighting will be needed – Paper Lanterns, Spotlights or String Lights.
  • And always, ALWAYS have a backup plan in case it rains!
